Namo Dixit named for Grameen Patrakarita award

GANGTOK, 31 Oct: Press Club of Sikkim has decided to confer the Second ‘Grameen Patrakarita Award’ on Namchi based journalist, Namo Dixit.
A press release informs that Ms. Dixit, who has over 15 years of experience as a journalist, is the South district correspondent of Sikkim Express. Her name was selected by the award selection committee during its meeting today. News reports pertaining to rural infrastructure, public health and sanitation, rural achievers, self employment and water and connectivity issues published during the past one year were examined by the committee as part of the selection process, the release adds.
The Minister for Information & Public Relations Department, CB Karki will present the award comprising of Rs 10,000 cash, citation and a shawl during the celebration of National Press Day on 16 November in Gangtok. The award for Rural Journalism was jointly instituted by Press Club of Sikkim and Raj Bhawan last year and carries a citation. Wangchuk Bhutia was its first recipient.
