Three-day Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign concludes in Rongli

RONGLI, 06 Dec [PIB]: The three-day Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign (PIC) organized by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India to inform and create awareness among the people about Central Government’s developmental and welfare schemes and programs at Rongli, East Sikkim came to an end this afternoon. The PIC which began on 04 December was inaugurated by Zilla Adhyaksha East, Bimal Dawari, who was present as the chief guest.
Prizes and certificates were also distributed to winners of various categories of competitions held among school students and healthy baby competition organized by the DFP in the course of the three-day programme. Area MLA, Puran Kumar Gurung, the chief guest of the valedictory function, Director PIB Gangtok, CK Dorjee and Sub Divisional Magistrate, Normit Lepcha were among others who gave away the certificates and prizes to participants and winners in various competitions.
Announcing the formal conclusion of the Public Information Campaign, CK Dorjee thanked the local administration, PRIs, SHGs, NGOs and the local people for the success of the programme.

Bharat Nirman PIC begins in Rongli

GANGTOK, 04 Dec [PIB]: The 24th edition of Bharat Nirman Public Information campaign at Rongli, East Sikkim was inaugurated by Zilla Panchayat Adhyaksha East, Bimal Dawari. Speaking as the chief guest, he stated that Panchayats being the bridge between the government and the people must be well informed about various schemes and projects being implemented under the flagship programs.
To further enhance their knowledge about it, Public Information Campaign is being organised at their doorstep so that they are well informed about it. This platform can be used by them to clear away any kind of disinformation and doubts about the schemes and projects through direct interaction with the resource persons from different implementing department and agencies, he said.
Making a fervent appeal to the Panchayats to become more vigilant and well informed, he also appealed to monitor every single developmental activity to ensure its proper execution and the quality. He also urged the people present to inform others and ensure greater participation during the remaining two days of the PIC. He added that many instances of water supply schemes being implemented to suit the interest of contractors have come to light depriving the people of real benefits.

24th installment of Bharat Nirman public info campaign in Sikkim to be held in Rongli

GANGTOK, 02 Dec: The 24th Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign will be held at Rongli community hall in East Sikkim from 04 to 06 December. The last PIC for this financial year is being organized by Press Information Bureau [PIB], Gangtok in collaboration with the media units of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting including the DAVP, DFP, Song & Drama Division, Doordarshan, AIR and the East District administration.
This three-day multimedia public outreach programme is scheduled to be inaugurated by the East Zilla Adhyaksha, Bimal Dawari.
Addressing a press conference today, PIB [Gangtok] Director, CK Dorjee, informed that that this PIC will cover all GPUs and wards of the area. He adds that the event will have the participation of Panchayats, Self Help Groups, NGOs, school students and local people.
He also mentioned that the aim of the PIC was to create wider awareness on the various flagship programmes and schemes of the Central Government.
“The PIC is an initiative to take the right information to the doorsteps of the people and also to clarify any doubts in peoples mind over government schemes. The campaign will also help reduce the gap between the administration and the people,” he said.
The Director informs that over 700 Bharat Nirman PICs have already been organized across the country and this would be the 24th in Sikkim. During the three-day long campaign, PIB, DAVP, DFP along with different central & state government departments will put up stalls on the various developmental and welfare schemes initiated by the central government while the Sikkim AIDS Control Society and Panchayat bodies, Self Help Groups and NGOs will also put up stalls displaying their products and services.
Likewise, Sashastra Seema Bal is also organizing a three-day free medical-cum-veterinary camp at the venue, which will also be providing free medicines.
On the first day of the PIC, resource persons from various state government departments responsible for implementing various flagship programmes of the Central Government will give talks on MGNREGA, PMGSY and DBT Aadhar.
Similarly, the second day will see deliberations on Right to Education, RTI, Total Sanitation, Indira Awas Yojana and PM’s 15-Point Programme for Minorities. The concluding day will have sessions on National Rural Livelihood Mission, ICDS and NRHM, the recent initiative of the central government like Food Security Act and Land Acquisition Bill will also be in focus during the session.
The Director informs that the Directorate of Field Publicity started pre-PIC publicity today at villages and schools surrounding Rongli to highlight the major flagship programmes and garner people’s participation at the PIC with distribution of publicity materials.
Artists from the Song & Drama Unit, Kolkata, along with local artists will perform a number of cultural programmes besides magic and puppet shows during the three day public outreach programme. DFP will also organize essay writing, poetry recitation & elocution along with debate competitions among school students on various themes of the flagship programme. A healthy baby competition will be organized on 05 December by DFP.
The valedictory function will have the Chujachen MLA, Puran Gurung as the chief guest, while Chujachen zilla panchayat, Srijana Rai will preside over the second day of the PIC.

THREE-DAY PIC ON BHARAT NIRMAN CONCLUDES IN NAMTHANG

Better understanding of programs helps in better implementation: CL Gurung
NAMTHANG, 27 Sept [PIB]: The three-day Public Information Campaign on Bharat Nirman at Namthang concluded today.
Speaking at a program held to mark the end of the campaign, Zilla Adhyaksha, South, CL Gurung said better understanding of flagship programs and other schemes with direct interaction with the resource persons from their respective field will definitely ensure proper check and balance during its implementation. In this regard, the three-day PIC on Bharat Nirman has certainly played a crucial role in making people aware of such programs, he added.
He further said that those present should ensure that the knowledge gained during the three-day program should be shared among others as well.
Gram Vikash Adhikari, Robin Sewa expressed gratitude to all for making the program a grand success. The information disseminated during the program is sure to transform the mindset of people making them enabled and empowered with knowledge, he said. Only a conscious and aware citizen can contribute towards nation building, which is the main reason for organizing such public information programs, he added.
Meanwhile, a three day free medical camp organised by Dr. TK Mondol and his team of Ayurveda Regional Research Institute, Gangtok attended to a total of 441 patients. Most of the patients were found suffering from arthritis, skin disease, respiratory problems, ulcers and piles. According to Dr. Mondol, the patients were provided only temporary relief with recommendation of thorough investigation and long term treatment. He further informed that immediate attention was also required to address the health related problems among the students as more than half of the students who came for check-ups were  found infected with different kind of skin diseases, while others had severe vision and ear related problems.
Earlier, ICDS Supervisor Laxman Tamang informed the gathering that the trend of formal schooling at preschool age, which has become a common prevalence now, has been leading to depression among teenagers. Parents should understand that the pressure mounted on children at very tender age has a long term psychological negative effect and impact, he stressed.
At ICDS centres, he added, children are groomed in the play-way method enabling them to gradually catch the learning process and get eased into formal education system, he added.
In ICDS a centre, apart from nutrition and immunization needs, proper socio-psychological environment is provided for holistic development of a child, he said.
Similarly, Dr. Bijendra Rai informed that proper identification of impairment at an early stage can help in proper training and rehabilitation of differently-abled children. He was addressing the technical session on NRHM on the concluding day of three day PIC at Namthang. Describing the difference between impairment, disability and handicapped, he informed that early detection of impairment can help such child from being permanently disabled or handicapped. He also explained about various concessions and facilities provided to differently able people for travelling by air and rail besides other enabling provisions.

Villagers stake ownership, deliver well

JAIPUR, 15 March: Nine journalists from Sikkim arrived here at the Pink City’s Bikaner House yesterday at around 2 a.m. after bad weather delayed the flight from Bagdogra to Delhi by over five hours. The journalists are a part of a ten-member exposure tour sponsored by the Press Bureau of India to better understand the implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes in Rajasthan.
The Press team from Sikkim, accompanied by members of the Jaipur PIB and local government officials, yesterday visited the panchayat Samiti of Bassi in Jaipur district where they interacted with the locals and officials on the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Guarantee Scheme.
Under MGNRGS, it was found that unlike Sikkim where the Bharat Nirman Rajeev Gandhi Sewa Kendras has not yet started, in the Jaipur district alone 39 such Kendras [in 39 gram panchayat units] have begun, offering the Rajasthan government with a good option to keep tabs on the implementation process.
These small but efficient structures are staffed by employees appointed by the panchayat member committees, are appointed with running water and toilet facilities, computers with internet, fans and electricity which is all generated by power from solar panels installed on the roofs. Villagers from each samiti can get access to their works, bills and follow up their payments from these Kendra’s.
These Kendras are mainly set in areas where a majority of population are Scheduled Caste.
Similarly, under NREGS works initiated in Bassi panchayat samiti, 106 works of different categories are under progress engaging 5,084 labourers. Community-based initiatives and public participation is the name of the game here with each family member employed in various works initiated in each panchayat samiti. One such example is the construction of a ‘Nala Nirman Hanuman Mandir to Samshan Ghat’ footpath project. Members of these Kendras are local heads and elders who have, through their Kendras, developed this project for which an estimated budget of Rs. 27 lakh was sanctioned which interestingly they completed at an expenditure of only Rs. 13.72 lakh, the remaining amount being then utilised to develop other small projects like drains to divert waste water and rain water.
Such is the involvement of the locals in these kendras which they have taken up  as their own ‘office’ from where they function for a better habitation, greatly reducing soil erosion and providing better living conditions to the residents and setting examples for the rest of the country to follow.
Later during the day, the journalists were taken to Kasturba Gandhi Balika Awasia Vidhalaya for girls. There are 200 such residential schools established all over Rajasthan with an average of 100 girls studying free and learning vocational skills along with pursuing education till standard VIII in each school.  The team also visited special education centres for disabled children where they interacted with the children sharing information about Sikkim. The team also visited the government horticulture farm in Dindol, Bassi Block, Jaipur, which is spread in an area of 222 hectares with state of the art farming of fruits, vegetables and flowers.
