GANGTOK, 06 June: A “coalition meeting” on suicides,
recognized as one of the major health problems affecting the State, has been
called for 09 June, Monday, at Chintan Bhawan,
by the National Health Misson.
A press release informs that the meeting will be addressed
by Dr N Shenga [Joint Director, RCH], Dr A Bhutia [Deputy Director], Dr CL
Pradhan [Psychiatrist], Chung Chung Bhutia [Consultant Youth], Dr PM Pradhan
[MD National Health Mission] and Dr Melozina Lepcha [Nodal Officer cum Joint
Director, NHM].
Health care personnel are being actively involved in
addressing the problem of suicides in the state and there has been some
positive response in some districts, the release mentions further adding that being
a multi-dimensional issue it needs to be addressed by one and all.
