Notice:- In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 5 of Sikkim Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1983 read with rule 3 of Sikkim Shops and Commercial Establishment Rules, 1984, the State Government is pleased to exempt all shops and commercial establishments throughout Sikkim to which this Act applies from operation of Section 17 (1) and (2) of Sikkim Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1983 w.e.f. 6th October, 2013 to 7th November, 2013 and from 22nd December, 2013 to 11 January, 2014 keeping in view the ensuing festivals.
However, every employer of such shops and commercial establishments shall ensure that the employees engaged by them get their weekly holidays as per the provisions of the Act.
