Loyola College of Education celebrates 20th annual day

NAMCHI, 27 May: Loyola College of Education today celebrated its 20th annual day function here at the college premises. Regional Director (IGNOU) Dr. Youna Bhutia was present as the chief guest of the celebration.
Addressing the function, the chief guest Dr. Youna Bhutia in his address said that these are difficult times and teachers shoulder the responsibility of educating young minds which needs dedication and sincerity. He further said that to educate children today is a big challenge as the educators have to be prepared and trained in every respect.
He also congratulated Loyola College of Education for imparting quality education and producing trained and fully equipped teachers from this institute.
Principal of Loyola College, Father Dr. Daniel Bara presented the annual report of the college where he informed that the college had secured 100% pass percentage in 2012-13. He also informed that Meri James Rai topped the college with an aggregate of 95% followed by Yojen Rai with 93%.
During the programme, both the toppers were also felicitated and on the occasion the College Magazine ‘Loyolite’ was also released by the chief guest. The programme was also attended by SDM HQ, Samdup Bhutia, Deputy Director HRDD, DK Rai, Principals and teachers from schools, faculty members of the college and the students of B. Ed College.
A number of cultural programmes, songs and the skit by the students of the college were also performed on the day.

Loyola College of Education’s Assistant Prof receives ‘Most Innovative Teacher in India’ award

NAMCHI, 22 April: Assistant Professor Sandhya Rai of Loyola College of Education, Namchi, has been awarded the “Rev. Fr. Dr. Mathias Award 2010-2011 for the Most Innovative College Teacher/ Educator in India”, instituted by AIACHE (All India Association for Christian Higher Education, New Delhi) on 20 April.
This prestigious national award is a mark of AIACHE’s recognition of her devotion to academic excellence, participation in the introduction of educational innovations, concern for the integrated development of students and commitment to high standards of professional ethics, informs a press release.

Loyola College of Education, a Catholic Minority Private Institution situated at Namchi, South Sikkim, awaits a momentous occasion as the Peer Team Visit by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has been scheduled for 14 and 15 April. The staff and students have worked hard on preparations for the visit. Loyola College of Education is the first institution to be assessed and accredited by NAAC in the state of Sikkim.
The College was started in response to the request of the Government of Sikkim and is named after St. Ignatius of Loyola, the Founder of the Society of Jesus. The Society of Jesus was founded in 1540 by St. Ignatius of Loyola and its members are popularly known as the Jesuits. It is an international Catholic Religious Order with its members engaged in activities such as education, social action, legal aid, communication, pastoral works, adult and rural literacy programmes, environmental studies etc.
