TNSSS celebrates Annual Day

Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School celebrated its Annual Day 2014 on Friday. T'Nites Alumni Association president, Thukchuk Lachungpa, was present as chief guest accompanied by principals of other schools of the capital.
Cultural programme presented by the students, grand school idol finale, release of school magazine, prize distribution ceremony were among the highlights of the day's programme. Kumar Biswakarma was adjudged the winner of the school idol contest.
Principal KB Chettri presented the school annual report highlighting the achievements of the school in the field of academics, sports and others, during the academic session 2014.

He applauded the school for retaining the prestigious best school trophy (AISSCE Result). "Our students topped the state among the government schools securing 1st and 2nd position in the Science stream and 2nd position in the Commerce stream. In AISSE -2014, all students passed with good grades.

Soreng School celebrates Annual Day

GANGTOK, 12 Dec: Government Senior Secondary School, Soreng organized its Annual Day function on 10 December here at the School Auditorium.
Deputy Director for HR&DD, PS Subba who chaired the function as the chief guest distributed prizes to students. The chief guest was accompanied by the SDPO, Soreng, Dr. TN Gyatso, Zilla Panchayats, and Principal, Narayan Basnet.
During the function, the school also felicitated Uttam Rai of Chumbung [West Sikkim] for his contributions in the field of football. At present, Rai is in the Under-19 India team, and has also represented U-16 India team.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest urged the students to focus on both academics and sports. He also expressed gratitude towards Uttam Rai for making the state proud and wished him luck in all his future endeavours.
Ganga Ram Chhetri of Class XII was declared the Best Athlete of the Year while Divya Thapa of Class XII was declared the School Idol.

Annual Day function at Kids Foundation School

MANGAN, 12 Dec:  Kids Foundation School Namok in North Sikkim celebrated is annual day on 10 December. Parent’s Day was also celebrated on the day.  Assistant Director, HRDD Mangan, BAC North, PR Dulal was the chief guest of the function and PGT Hindi from Phodong Sr Sec School, Sonam Ongmu Bhutia was the guest of honour.
The programme was attended by all the parents, panchayat members and local gentries, staff and students of different schools of Namok. The children of Kids Foundation School presented various colourful cultural programmes, skits, extempore speech and the popular bamboo dance of Manipur to entertain the gathering.
Sonam Ongmu Bhutia was felicitated by the chief guest, Principal and the parents for being the first person from North District to receive a PhD in Hindi from Banasthali Vidhyapeeth Rajasthan in the year 2011.
In her address, she highlighted the importance of education and other co-curricular activities for the all-round development of students and the importance of Hindi as well. Leong Lepcha and Enameul Mar of class IV and Tenzing Norbu Sherpa were awarded certificates for academic excellence.
Certificates and prizes were also given for sports, attendance and culture, etc.

Posakey Primary School holds Annual Function

GANGTOK, 11 Dec: Posakey Primary School, East Sikkim organised its Annual Function at the school premises on 10 December. The programme was attended by area MLA, Puran Gurung as the chief guest and  Zilla Adhakshya, East District Zilla Panchayat, Bimal Dawari as a the guest of honour.
A press release informs that during the function Headmaster Posakey PS, Amrit Thakuri presented the annual report of the school in brief. Three teachers of the school NK Pradhan, Lalit Kr. Sharma and Champa Sharma were felicitated by the School Managing Committee for their contribution towards the development of the school and its students. The SMC also felicitated Manisha Thakuri of Sudunglakha, East Sikkim who was awarded with the Dr. Januka Rama Rao Gold Medal for M.Phil in English Literature by the Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning Andhra Pradesh on 22 November.
The school family also felicitated CRC Coordinator of Regu BAC, KP Dawari for his immense contribution towards the development of the school by highlighting the activities of the school through media, the release mentions.
Addressing the gathering, Zilla Adhakshya Bimal Dawari assured to fulfil the demand for construction of toilet, desks and benches and drinking water supply placed by the Headmaster of the school.
Area MLA, Puran Gurung congratulated the school’s Headmaster for receiving the National Teachers’ Award in 2012 and also for the selection of two of its students for the CM’s Meritorious Scholarship scheme, it is added. He also informed about various developmental plans for the development of Posakey Village.
Prizes and certificates were handed over by the chief guest and other guests to student achievers of the 2013 academic session.

Annual Day at Bojoghari School

GANGTOK, 10 Dec: Bojoghari Sr. Sec. School celebrated its Annual Day today which was attended by officers from HRDD, SMDC and SMC members as well as guardians. The main event was the release of the school’s first ever Annual Magazine, “Aagaman”, by the chief guest Joint Director (East) HRDD, Prakash Pradhan.
As per a press release, Principal CD Bhutia stated that the inaugural magazine announces the arrival of literary development in the school.  She also stressed on the need to open Science as well as vocational stream and requested the officials from HRDD to extend help towards the school.
The guests enjoyed the culinary skills of the students as they visited the food stalls of four different houses trying out local cuisine prepared by the students and House masters, it is mentioned.
Mt. Pandim house was adjudged the one with the best food stall. The Art & Crafts stalls had a well received collection of handmade baskets, bags, dolls and decoration items. The program ended with prize distribution.

Saraswati Vidhya Niketan Samdong celebrates annual day on birth anniv of Swami Vivekananda

MANGAN, 29 Sept: The Saraswati Vidhya Niketan, Lower Samdong celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda cum school annual day from 25 to 28 September at the school premises. On the final day of the function various inter-school competitions were organized.
The school felicitated four people from the area for their contribution in running the school successfully. The four people are Gopal Nepal [Principal SVN], Hom Shanker Bhattarai, KN Khatiwara and Kamal Bhattarai. The SVN also felicitated NHPC Teesta Stage V HE Project for its unconditional support.
Highlighting about the school, the principal, Gopal Nepal said that the school was established in the year 2001 with five students and 2 teachers which has grown to 140 children along with 15 teaching and non-teaching staff.
President Vidhya Bharati Sikkim, Chultrim Bhutia highlighted about the Vidhya Bharati school which aims to preserve Indian culture through education. He also highlighted about the life of Swami Vivekananda and his contribution towards the nation.
Addressing the function, the chief guest, area MLA cum Chief Whip, Ugen T Gyatso Bhutia appealed to all the teachers and intellectuals to work honestly for the people and not to misguide them. Highlighting the government’s work the MLA said that criticism should be healthy and productive.
The MLA also assured to fulfill the demands related to extension of school playground, computers and midday meal facility placed by the school in consultation with NHPC Teesta Stage V.

Maniram-Singithang celebrates GPU Annual Day with proactive transparency, releases White Paper covering last 4 years


NAMCHI, 01 Dec: Maniram-Singithang Gram Panchayat Unit celebrated its “GPU Annual Day” here at the Zilla Panchayat Bhawan today with Namchi-Singithang MLA Binod Rai was chief guest. In a welcome towards proactive transparency, the GPU released a White Paper covering the tenure of the present panchayats from 2008 to 2011. This document carries details of all developmental works, benefits provided, programmes and activities initiated in the GPU during this period.
