Namchi meets to discuss garbage management

Namchi, 09 Feb [IPR]: A meeting on Garbage Management/ Recycle plant was held at the Namchi Municipal Council conference hall today with the Scheduled Tribe Welfare Board chairperson, Lama Pem Tshering Bhutia, as chief guest. The meeting was presided by DC (South) Raj Kumar Yadav alongside SDM (Namchi) Bimal Chandra Rai, NMC (Vice Chairman) NH Ansari and officials from UD&HD, Forest Department and Councilors from NMC.
The DC spoke about the need for behavioral change in the public with regards to garbage management. He discussed the need for holistic development for proper functioning garbage dumping management, appropriate waste solutions and a comprehensive and integrated approach to waste management at Sipchu dumping ground.

Namchi Municipal Council distributes Rs 26.64 lakh in earthquake relief

NAMCHI, 18 Oct: Namchi Municipal Council today distributed cash relief to earthquake victims of the town. A total of Rs 26.64 lakhs was distributed to 557 households of the area covering major, minor and partially damaged houses today.

Namchi Municipal Council goes online

NAMCHI, 09 Sept: Namchi Municipal Council’s official website – http://www.namchimunicipalcouncil.org/ was launched today by the NMC Chairman, Buddha Tamang, in the presence of Executive Councillors, Deputy Municipal Officer and NMC staff, informs a press release issued by Deputy Municipal Officer, Dushyant Pariyar.
The website aims to provide general information about NMC and license holders can also check their license status on the site.
Santosh Subba and Charles Rai from AISECT Computer Education gave a demonstration on the website at its launch today. The website has been developed by AISECT Computer Education, Namchi, which has also developed similar websites for the Gangtok Municipal Coroporation, Mangan Nagar Panchayat, Rangpo Nagar Panchayat and Singtam Nagar Panchayat, the release further mentions.

Namchi Councillors complete year in office with open discussion

Namchi, 27 May: Namchi Municipal Council today organized its first Annual Day meeting here at Namchi Central Park with the Namchi Singithang MLA Binod Rai present as chief guest accompanied by South Zilla Upadakshya Himal Tamang as Special Guest.
The meeting featured the airing of grievances and sharing of suggestions.
On the occasion, representatives from all seven wards of Namchi Municipal Council placed their demands and suggestions with the Municipal body. These were later discussed in detail.
