GANGTOK, 21 Aug: The state government has sanctioned Rs 8 crore for the CM's Meritorious Scholarship scheme for the academic session 2014-15. The amount was approved and sanctioned by the Cabinet on 12 August.
This year, 129 more students hailing from underprivileged backgrounds and enrolled in government schools across the state were selected under the CM's Meritorious Scholarship scheme. 26 of these students were sent to reputed public schools outside the state while the rest were sent to public schools within the state.
It may also be mentioned here that the State government has also sanctioned Rs 11.5 crore for the Mid Day Meal scheme for 2014-15.
