ALL INDIA CHIEF MINISTER’S GOLD CUP UPDATE MMC-Nepal goes down 2-0 to Air India

JORETHANG, 24 Nov: Air India and ONGC Mumbai will now battle for the title of All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Football Tournament 2013 on Monday here at Jorethang, South Sikkim.
Air India outplayed Manang Marshyangdi Nepal 2-0 today in the second semi-final match of the tourney making its way into the finals.
The first half of the match ended goalless while during the second half Omkar Singh (07) of Air India netted a beautiful goal in the 65th minute giving his team a lead of 1-0. Another goal by LN Das (24) gave the winning lead of 2-0 to Air India.
Today's match was attended by Chief Whip Ugen Gyatso Bhutia as the chief guest.
The final match of the tournament, organized by South District Football Association, will be played between ONGC Mumbai and Air India on Monday. Chief Minister Pawan Chamling is expected to attend the final as the chief guest.

UPDATE: CHIEF MINISTER’S GOLD CUP ONGC knocks out Royal Wahingdoh

JORETHANG, 20 Nov: Shillong’s Royal Wahingdoh was knocked out of the ongoing All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Football Tournament 2013 at Jorethang playground today. In the last quarterfinal match played today, the Shillong team was defeated by ONGC-Mumbai 2-0.
The first goal of the match was an own goal which came from a Royal Wahingdoh player who was trying to defend ONGC’s attack.  This gave ONGC 1-0 lead in the first half of the match. As Royal Wahingdoh desperately tried to come back in the match in the second half , ONGC extended the lead further with another goal from Satish TS.
With this, ONGC has become the last team to enter the semi-final round of the tourney.
As learnt from the organizing committee of SDFA, there will be no match on Friday due to some unavoidable circumstances.
ONGC Mumbai will now take on Kolkata Port Trust in the first semi-final to be held on 23 November while Manang Marshyangdi Nepal will fight against Air India in the second semi-final to be played on 24 November.
The final of the tournament will be played on 25 November where the Chief Minister, Pawan Chamling is expected to attend as the chief guest.

CM’S GOLD CUP Port Trust Kolkata in semifinals


JORETHANG, 20 Nov: Port Trust Kolkata defeated Kerala today to reach the semifinal round of the ongoing All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Football Tournament 2013 at Jorethang, South Sikkim.
The match between these two teams played today was one of the most interesting matches of this season. The team from Kolkata took the lead with a goal from Elek Anand in the 15th minute.
Both teams made several attacks on each other’s goal post for the remaining part of the match. However, the match ended with the final score of 1-0 in favour of Kolkata Port Trust. With this, the Kerala team has been knocked out of the tourney.
The match saw some heated moments where Sukmal Santra (03) of Kolkata port Trust became the first player of this tournament to receive a Red Card. He was sent off the field for using offensive language against the referee.
The organizing committee of South District Football Association (SDFA) presented the Kerala team with a token of appreciation thanking them for their participation in the tourney.
The last quarter final of the match will be played on Thursday wherein Royal Wahingdoh, Shillong will battle ONGC, Mumbai.

CM’S GOLD CUP 2013 UPDATE MMC-Nepal knocks out Manipur team to enter semifinals


JORETHANG, 18 Nov: Manang Marshyangdi Club of Nepal knocked out the well set Zomi FC of Manipur with a final score of 5-3 to become the first team to reach the semifinals of the ongoing All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Football Tournament 2013.
In an interesting quarterfinal match played today, MMC Nepal defeated Manipur in the tie breaker. The full time match ended in a draw with the score level 01-01 and went into the tie breaker.
The first goal of the match was netted by Yogesh Gurung (9) of Nepal in the 25th minute giving his team a lead of 1-0 but soon Pao Khong Gang (14) of Manipur scored in the 40th minute leveling the score 1-1. Both the teams made several attacks in the second half of the match but failed to score and with the final score of 1-1 the match ended in a draw.
The players of Nepal proved themselves in the penalty shoot-out and won the match with the final score of 5-3. It may be mentioned here that Manipur played the inaugural match against SAI India and defeated United Sikkim Football Club in the pre quarter round but they were knocked out of the tourney today by Nepal.
On Tuesday, Air India will take on Bhutan XI.  Organized by the South District Football Association the final of the tourney will held on 25 November at Jorethang play ground.

CHIEF MINISTER’S GOLD CUP UPDATE Bhutan XI knocks out Durgapur FC

NAMCHI, 15 Nov: Bhutan XI thrashed Durgapur FC at the ongoing All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Football Tournament 2013 being held at Jorethang, South Sikkim today.
The team from Bhutan dominated the match scoring 5 goals against Durgapur FC’s lone goal. Bhutan XI scored all five goals in the first half of the match. D. Methi (8), Jenk (2), Jamshed Ali (7), Doe (10), and Suraj Gurung (15) scored for the team.
The lone goal for Durgapur FC came from the boots of Bobbie Orow (9).
On Saturday, Royal Wahingdoh of Shillong will play IFA from 1.30 pm onwards.

ALL INDIA CHIEF MINISTER’S GOLD CUP FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT 2013 Manipur’s Zomi FC defeats USFC

NAMCHI, 14 Nov: United Sikkim Football Club was knocked out of the ongoing All India Chief Minister’s Football Tournament 2013 at Jorethang, South Sikkim today.
In the match between USFC and Zomi FC Manipur, Bijendra Rai gave the home club the lead in the 35th minute but later in the second half Nautan scored for Manipur in the 65th minute and equalised the score. The match ended in a goalless draw at full time.
In the penalty shoot-out, Manipur scored all five goals against four converted by USFC.
On Friday, Durgapur FC with take on Bhutan XI at 1.30 pm.

CM’s Gold Cup kicks off in Jorethang

NAMCHI, 12 Nov: All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Football Tournament 2013 kicked off today here at Jorethang, South Sikkim.
Minister for Roads & Bridges, RB Subba, who was present as the chief guest, formally inaugurated the tournament. Also present were Political Advisor to the Chief Minister, K N Rai as the special guest and officers from South and West Sikkim.
The inaugural ceremony witnessed a number of cultural presentations while the inaugural match of the tourney was played between Manipur and SAI India. Manipur defeated the SAI team 1-0.
It may be recalled here that, since the Bhaichung stadium, Namchi is under construction, the tournament was shifted to Jorethang. Organized by the South District Football Association (SDFA), the final match of the tourney will be played on 21 November.

Jorethang prepares for CM’s Gold Cup 2013

JORETHANG, 01 Oct: Preparations for the 7thAll India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup 2013 football tournament are on full swing here at Jorethang, South Sikkim. The organizing committee of the tournament South District Football Association (SDFA), South District Administration and other government and non-government organizations are hosting this tournament for the first time in Jorethang.
The committee members of the tournament are preparing the public ground of Jorethang for this tournament and the maintenance work is underway. The ground will be ready within 15 to 20 days, informed, Joint Director, Sports and Youth Affairs, Kamal Chettri.
He further informed that they had invited many good teams of the country and from the neighboring countries and many reputed teams have confirmed their participation in the tournament. Some of these teams are from Mizoram, Manipur, Meghalaya, Kolkata, Railway FC, Air India, ONGC Mumbai, Kerala, Bhutan and Nepal.
The tournament is scheduled to begin from 11 November at Jorethang.

Review meeting discusses preparations for CM’s Gold Cup


JORETHANG, 24 Sept: A review meeting regarding the 7th All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup 2013 to be held in Jorethang was conducted at State Institute Rural Development (SIRD) Karfectar, South Sikkim today which was chaired by Minister Roads & Bridges, RB Subba. The tourney is been organized by South District Football Association (SDFA) in collaboration with South District Administration and other government and non-government organizations for the first time at Jorethang, South Sikkim. The tournament is set to begin from 19 October 2013.
During the meeting, Mr. Subba emphasized on active participation of all the members for the successful execution of the Gold Cup is essential for the success of the tournament. Due to the limited time available for preparation and due to the upcoming Dasain and Diwali holidays, he asked the committee to utilize time in an efficient manner.
Assuring complete support from his office for the tournament, he informed that the upgradation works going on at the Jorethang playground will be complete by 20 October. He appealed to each department, organization and Self Help Group to start work with utmost sincerity, smooth collaboration and positive motivation.
Sports & Youth Affairs Minister, NK Pradhan in his address assured hundred percent cooperation from his department for the successful execution of the tournament.
Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, KN Rai said that Jorethang shares its border with West Bengal and requested the SP (South) to maintain stringent law and order during the period to avoid unnecessary hassles which could disrupt the ambience of the tournament. He further asked the committee to provide opportunity to rural sportspersons during this type of tournaments to help them gain exposure. He further called for collective participation from all those responsible in the organizing of the tournament to make it a success.
MLA Zoom Salghari, Madan Cintury extended gratitude to the SDFA and district administration for organizing the tournament in Jorethang and suggested that the committee involve the youth of Jorethang in the tournament by handing them proper responsibilities. He also spoke on other related issues like selling entry tickets, food and refreshment arrangement, accommodation for players etc in the house for discussion. Chief Whip Ugyen Gyatso Bhutia also addressed the house.
Earlier JD Sports & Youth Affairs, Kamal Chettri placed the latest report of the organizing committee and informed the house that the last review meet to update the house regarding the progress of the preparation will be held on 19 October after the puja holidays. He said that 18 teams will be participating in the tournament wherein prestigious teams like AIR India, Bhaichung Bhutia’s United Sikkim, and many more from the North East and other countries will be seen in the Gold Cup. He also highlighted that this CM’s Gold Cup stands in the 7th position at the National Level and added that Jorethang playground also required quite an amount of renovation and repair work to prepare to host the football tourney.

DC South Prabhaker Verma welcomed the gathering and SDM Jorethang Tenzing Denzongpa ended the meeting with the vote of thanks. The review meet was attended by Minister Power Sonam Gyatso Lepcha, Minister RMDD  CB Karki, former Minister SB Subedi, MLAs, South and West Zilla Adhakshyas, Upadhakshyas, Chairpersons, Secretary Sports Department, HODs, members of Self Help Groups, Business Community, Driver Association of South & West and other eminent guests.
