GANGTOK, 18 Nov: Although the Central government notified the Amendment of Companies Act 2013 last month, provisions relating to Sikkim in the Act have not been notified thus far and the President has given his assent only to sections not related to Sikkim.
The Sikkim MPs have forwarded the amended Companies Act which also contains the repealing of the ‘The Sikkim Companies Act 1961’ to the Assurances Committee of the Parliament.
Rajya Sabha MP from Sikkim, Hissey Lachungpa, informed NOW! that the Centre will consult the state government before extending the Companies Act to Sikkim. The centre has assured the state government that the amended Act will not be enforced in Sikkim without its consent, he reiterated.
Lok Sabha MP, PD Rai, in turn said that the provisions and portions relating to Sikkim have not been notified yet and only certain provisions included in the amendment were notified.
The state government is consistently pursuing the matter with the centre, he assured.
