SIMFED holds coordination meeting

GANGTOK, 18 July: A coordination meeting was convened by the Chairperson of the Sikkim State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd (SIMFED), Girish Chandra Rai on 15 July.
As per a press release, the SIMFED Managing Director, Kuber Bhandari, welcomed Mr. Rai back to a fresh term as the SIMFED chairperson and said that during his earlier terms on the post, SIMFED had progressed by leaps and bounds and now with him coming as the Chairman again, SIMFED could reach newer heights. The Managing Director appealed to work as a team to achieve the primary objectives of SIMFED.
The Chairman in his address to the officers and staff of the federation urged them to be dedicated in their duties. In order to achieve the Organic Mission by 2015, he directed the officers of the Federation to have a marketing strategy ready for the marketing of the organic produce. He also suggested that all the loss making units of SIMFED should be examined and ways found to correct the same and avoid losses. If the same was not possible then those units needs to be shut, he added.
Mr Rai requested all the employees to be serious in their work and be punctual and regular for their duties.  He urged all to work in the interest of the farmers of the state.
At the end of the meeting, the Chairman informed that he would have a separate meeting with the senior officers of the Federation to revamp the working of the Federation and to work out strategies to improve the marketing network of the organic produce of the state, the release adds.

Minister chairs coordination meet for Hee-Martam GVK

NAMCHI, 04 July: A coordination meeting of the Gram Vikas Kendra staff and Panchayats with the RMDD Minister was held at the Hee-Martam GVK in West Sikkim today.
The meeting, chaired by the RM&DD Minister SB Subedi, was also attended by Chingthang and Bermiok Martam Territorial Constituency Zilla Panchayats, Gram Panchayats, DE Power & Energy Deptt. and GPK staff and others officials under Hee Martam GVK.
The GVA, Biswa B Raj Gurung, detailed the objectives of the meeting and updated the meeting on the ongoing projects in the GVK, drinking water supply works, MGNREGA etc. He also placed the key issues before the Minister like shortage of staff and officials at the GVK because of which the people were being inconvenienced and requested that such coordination meets be organized with heads of the different departments in the district and panchyats as well. 

Gram Panchayats of all GPU under Hee Martam raised their issues and demands with the Minister. Most of the demands related to drinking water supply, road connectivity, school upgradation, public play grounds, Panchayat Bhawan etc.

Minister convenes coordination meet at Tourism Department

GANGTOK, 20 June: Tourism & Civil Aviation Department held a coordination meeting on 18 June to discuss provision of efficient services to tourists, tourists' safety and efficient management of tourist traffic in Sikkim.
As per a press release, the meeting was chaired by Minister Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, Ugen T Gyatso and Secretaries of the concerned Departments like Land Revenue & Disaster Management, Transport, CCF Forest Department, DC-East, SP (E), SP Check-posts, Senior Officers of different departments and executive members of the Tourism Organizations participated in the meeting.
To address the various tourism related issues suggestions from stake holders, line authorities have been noted for incorporating them in the proposal for regulatory guidelines, the release mentions.
The Tourism Minister in his concluding address assured all the participants that he will try his best to address all the issues and find effective remedies to the existing problems. He urged the participants to be cooperative and adopt a professional approach to set an example in the tourism sector.

Social Justice Minister chairs coordination meet

GANGTOK, 09 June [IPR]: Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment and Welfare Department, Tulsi Devi Rai chaired the first coordination meeting of the Department at the conference hall, Bal Bhawan today. The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary of the Department, GP Upadhyaya along with Special Secretary, Januki Pradhan, Senior officials and staffs.
The Minister in her address outlined the huge responsibility and faith that has been bestowed to every individual for the betterment of society and therefore she said, everyone should perform their duties with great respect, honesty, compassion and seriousness.
As the department directly deals with the grass root people, let no personal interest or self seeking motive come on the way and dilute the motives in fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the people, said the Minister. The Minister also solicited cooperation and coordination among the officials and staffs to make the offices more people- friendly.
Touching on the State Government policies and programmes based on equality and social justice, the Minister added that all the developmental programmes of the department should focus on strengthening  the grass root level. She also showed her concern over some of the programmes which are not being implemented at the village level.
In the same manner, she directed the department to prepare a booklet incorporating all the schemes and policies of the department which shall be distributed amongst the Gram Panchayats, so that they are well versed and aware of the schemes and activities of the department.
The Minister suggested that the department channelize some of the schemes like Widows Pension, Old Age Pension through Panchayats so that people get the benefits well on time. She also asked the CDPOs to personally go and visit the ICDS Centres for monitoring and supervision and also attend Gram Sabhas.
She also laid stress on the need to maintain discipline, dedication, punctuality, transparency while discharging one's duties and streamlining for better management and coordination in the department.
The Minister also gave positive note on the proposal to establish Engineering Cell in the department. At the outset, Principal Secretary, GP Upadhyaya gave a detailed overview of the department which deals with Women and Child Welfare, ICDS, Social Welfare division including health interventions, nutritional, welfare schemes and programmes.

Earlier, Special Secretary Januki Pradhan presented the welcome address. Later the programme ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Additional Secretary cum Mission Director ICDS, BB Subba.

IPR Deptt meets to coordinate and follow-up on govt directives

Gangtok, 02 June [IPR]:  A departmental coordination meeting of the Information & Public Relations Department was held at the Soochna Bhawan conference hall here today. The meeting was chaired by the Secretary CC Wangdi and was attended by Director CC Bhutia, senior officers and all staff, including the District Information Officers.
The meeting was held mainly to review and assess the action taken on the last meeting and also to brief officials on the directives issued by the government during the last coordination meeting with the Cabinet Ministers and the Departmental heads.
At the outset, the Secretary briefed the officers on the directives received by the government during the meeting held at Samman Bhawan, Gangtok. She also apprised the officials and staffs about the various activities and works carried out by the department so far and in the same manner urged them to be innovative, responsible, efficient and disciplined in their day to day functioning.
She also directed the officers and staff to strictly follow the procedure and norms laid by the Government while performing their duties. She also laid stress on efficiency and accountability in their work as it reflects the Government working system. The Secretary added that there is a need to pay attention to punctuality and seriousness while discharging the duties. She stressed on the strict compliance towards their designated duties duly emphasizing on quality and follow the instruction of the government religiously in full letter and spirit.
She also went on to maintain cleanliness in the department and also directed the sectional heads to look into.
The Secretary on behalf of all officials and staffs extended her gratitude to the Government for providing a new building for the department and also expressed her appreciation for coordination amongst the employees.
During the meeting, the grievances were also put up by the officials and staffs wherein the Secretary assured to look into it.
Earlier, the Director presented the welcome address while SW Shenga, A.D., proposed the vote of thanks.

Ecclesiastical Affairs Deptt convenes coordination meeting

GANGTOK, 01 June: Following the instructions of the Chief Minister issued during his first meeting with Cabinet Ministers and State Administrative machinery held on 29 May 2014 at Samman Bhawan, a co-ordination meeting of Ecclesiastical Affairs Department was held on 30 May 2014.
As per an official press release, the meeting was chaired by Secretary, Ecclesiastical Affairs and attended by all Officers and Staff of the Department. The Secretary categorically briefed the instructions given by the Chief Minister and directed all Officers and staff to adhere to the instructions seriously.
He stressed upon the punctuality and attendance of the Officers and Staff and directed to introduce the thumb impression attendance in the office immediately. He also directed to adopt the practices of good governance in the office so that the public may not suffer and should provide one day services to the people, the release mentions.
He requested everyone to cooperate and work as a team in the Department and also conveyed the instructions that in a week, officers below the level of Deputy Secretary/Deputy Director are to stay in office for two days and conduct field inspection for the remaining four work days. They are to submit the tour report immediately, he added.
Similarly, officers above the rank of Joint Secretary and equivalent will have to stay in office for three days and conduct a tour for the other three days and submit report accordingly. Moreover, he also stressed upon the fact that the single window system should be implemented effectively and that the records and the data pertaining to the concerned Department should be kept up-to-date so that they are readily available.
The Secretary concluded the meeting by conveying the Chief Minister’s message that any suggestion and advice from the government employees are welcome, it is added.

Minister chairs first coordination meeting of Cultural Affairs Deptt

GANGTOK, 01 June:  Minister GM Gurung chaired the first coordination meeting of Cultural Affairs & Heritage Department at Manan Bhawan here on 31 May. The meeting was attended by Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Nalini G. Pradhan, other senior officers and staff of the Department.
During the meeting, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary before briefing the Minister about the activities of the Department, congratulated him on his victory and assured full cooperation for the developmental activities of the Department. She also informed about the ongoing projects as well as other projects which are in the pipeline, informs a press release.
In his address, Mr. Gurung highlighted the importance of the Department which, he stressed, depicts Sikkim in a holistic sense and stressed on preservation of culture vis-à-vis developmental prospects of the state. He further emphasized on documentation and research work, the release mentions.
Expressing concern over the ongoing projects, the Minister assured his full support in getting the requisite funds. He further directed that the upcoming State Museum be given topmost priority and completed at the earliest. Mr Gurung also requested all officials to work with full dedication and responsibility, it is added.
