As per a press release, the training was conducted by Mahesh Dawari and two members of his group from Green Grocers, a Gangtok-based pickle making company. During the week-long training, 24 beneficiaries from 4 self help groups created under IWMP were trained in making various types of pickles with locally available ingredients.
The four SHGs comprised of unemployed women from two micro watersheds viz. Lingtam and Agamtok. This is the second time that pickle making training has been conducted in East Sikkim by SLNA under IWMP Project, the release informs. The first training was conducted for three SHGs at Lamaten in the month of June. Training completion certificates and pickle making tool kits along with induction sealing machine were distributed to the trainees by the PCCF-cum-MS, SLNA, Zilla Panchayat and PIA.
During the valedictory programme, high yielding variety of cardamom seedlings were also distributed to progressive farmers.
