GANGTOK, 29 May: Black Cat Cycling cum Trekking Ecological Awareness Expedition has reached Yuksom in West Sikkim. Members of the team interacted with Kanchenjunga Conservation Committee including the Director and numerous other officials, informs a press release.
The expedition was flagged off from Penangla on 21 May as part of ‘Eco Awareness and Perception Management’.
The team gained brief insight regarding the activities of Kanchenjunga Conservation Committee in preserving ecology in the vicinity of the world’s third highest peak. The team collected non-biodegradable waste from the segregation centre being maintained by Kanchenjunga Conservation Committee which had accumulated over a period of timeand dumped the waste at the dumping yard at Martam.
This initiative taken by the expedition team is a testimony of the commitment of Black Cat Division in preserving the ecology of the Sikkim State alongwith the state administration, the release adds.
