GANGTOK, 24 Jan: A 14-member Sikkim Chess Association [SCA]
team is all set to represent Sikkim in the 7th edition of North East
FIDE Rating Chess Tournament to be held in Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh from
29 January to 04 February. The team accompanied by SCA general secretary,
Mahendra Dhakal, who is also the International Arbiter, will be leaving on 27
January for the tournament.
During a press conference today, executive members of SCA
expressed their best wishes by offering khadas to participating players.
While expressing his best wishes, SCA president, HS Sharma
encouraged players to do their best to bring more medals for the state as
compared to the last edition of the tournament. In the last edition of the
tournament, SCA players had bagged 10 medals for the state.
