Aho youth repair road


GANGTOK, 29 April: A Ranipool-based NGO, Aho Basti Youth Association [ABYA] with the support of Panchayat members of the area has repaired the Aho-Manghim road here in East Sikkim on its own initiative today. More than 80 members of the organization worked together in the road repair task and have made it suitable for vehicular traffic.
An ABYA press release issued by its president, Roshan Subba, explains that the organization took the initiative inspired by the slogan “Afno Gaon Affai Banau”. The release mentions that the people of the village have been facing problems due to the poor condition of the road for the past many days and were apprehensive of what the monsoon would wreak if the need for repairs was left unattended.

Aho residents conduct cleanliness drive at Yatayat Bhawan


GANGTOK, 11 Mar: A cleanliness drive was carried out by Aho Youth Association and Aho Local Taxi Association [ALTA] of East Sikkim here at Yatayat Bhawan and its surrounding compound on Saturday. More than 45 members of these associations joined hands in this cleanliness drive.
A press release issued by ALTA president, Roshan Subba informs that the association was formed by the youth of Aho village on February this year with the main objective to involve youth in social activities and to lead them towards the right path.
This was the first initiative of the association and similar drives to clean other government complexes and tourist spots will also be conducted, the release adds.
