Still Waters invited for gigs abroad

GANGTOK, 14 Jan: The rock band, Still Waters, has been invited to play in Macau, Malaysia and Singapore in major concerts.
A press release informs that the band recently finished their month-long headlining tour which got underway on 03 December 2012 with Moksh, Kathmandu, IIAM, Kolkata, Attic, Kathmandu, Sisha, Kathmandu, India Club, Guwahati and ended on 06 of January 2013 with the Tea and Tourism Fest, Darjeeling. At the moment, the band is looking for sponsors for their tour of Macau, Malaysia and Singapore.
Formed in 2001, Still Waters is the only band from North Eastern States to have featured twice in the Great Indian Rock and also nominated among the list of best Indian bands after having played their brand of so called "Feel-good High-Energy Riff Rock".
After a series of line - up changes over the years, the band now has Abhishek Lemo Gurung (Vocalist), Sonam Lachungpa (Lead guitar), Lokes Loko Mangar (Bass), Samir Gurung (Rhythm Guitar) and Ronald Pradhan (Drums). The band is also currently working on their 3rd full-length album which is scheduled to be released this year, the release adds.

Reloaded: Still Waters performs with new vocalist

GANGTOK, 22 April: The much anticipated rock concert, “Reloaded” featuring Still Waters from Gangtok, was held here at Cafe Live and Loud, Gangtok on 21 April. Produced and managed by The Alpine Attitude, an event Management Company based in Sikkim, the concert was originally planned as an open-air concert at MG Marg, but due to incessant rain and bad weather, the venue was changed.
Although Still Waters are one of the pioneers of rock music in Sikkim, who have been performing in major rock concerts all over India since 2001 and have also been specially featured in MTV Roots, the concert was all the more important for the band as they were playing their very first gig in Sikkim with their new vocalist, Abhisek Lemo Gurung. Secondly, for the first ever time in Sikkim and probably in the entire north east region of India, the organizers were streaming the concert live on internet.
Amidst a mix of speculations and excitement, the show started at 7:00 PM to a packed audience. Abhisek’s powerful vocals blended very well with the music of the band and they delivered a real tight performance with every song and every note. The band performed two of their originals, ‘Live a little’ and ‘Happy go lucky’ from their 1st album and there were calls for encore both the times. The band covered songs from AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Guns & Roses, Pink Floyd, among others and the crowd was left asking for more. The show being streamed live online was viewed from as far as Dubai, Nepal, Australia, Bhutan, etc. (Quality videos will be uploaded to the official youtube channel of The Alpine Attitude.)
Still Waters is currently being managed by The Alpine Attitude which plans to have an open air concert on 20 May at MG Marg, Gangtok. It would be a great treat for all rock fans as the entry would be free.

Still Waters on making it to the finals of MTV’s Taking Pole Position

GANGTOK, 31 Oct: Still Waters is back in town after an exciting run on MTV’s Taking Pole Position competition where they lost out to Delhi band Guillotine for a chance to open for Metallica on 28 Oct at New Delhi.

They complete a decade in the rock scene this year, and are, in a way, “Starting from Scratch” again. Still Waters made headlines in 2002 by becoming the first band from Sikkim to play in the Great Indian Rock festival. They have headlined many gigs since, and after a couple of years off the scene, exploded back on the stage last year, storming into the GIR again and flaunting a new line-up built around the rock-sync of Ananth Pradhan, the lead vocalist, and Sonam Lachungpa of the skilful fingers on lead guitar. The band is now all set to release their second album – “Starting from Scratch” - which belts out their foray into Nepali Rock.
With 6 songs in Nepali and 2 in English, “Starting from Scratch” is an essentially Nepali album. Incidentally, the band also performed one of their Nepali songs, ‘Pharki Na Au’, at the GIR festival last year, which is a first on the fest.
