Still Waters on making it to the finals of MTV’s Taking Pole Position

GANGTOK, 31 Oct: Still Waters is back in town after an exciting run on MTV’s Taking Pole Position competition where they lost out to Delhi band Guillotine for a chance to open for Metallica on 28 Oct at New Delhi.
From the 420 bands that had applied for MTV’s Taking Pole Position from across the country, only 8 were invited for the show.
Still Waters reached Mumbai on 07 October and went through the first and second rounds of the show on 11 and 12 October. 6 bands were shortlisted for the third round, which was held on 19 October. After the third round, it was Still Waters and Delhi based Guillotine up against each other in the final round which was held on 24 October at the Hard Rock Café, Mumbai.
The competition had Ehsaan of the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio, Nitin Malik of Parikrama and Mumbai-based guitarist, Dhruv Ghanekar as judges.
The band however managed to make an impression and got invited for an interview and video shoot for the MTV Roots show hosted by popular VJ Nikhil Chinappa, which will be telecast in the coming weeks.
Speaking to NOW! Still Waters vocalist, Anant Pradhan, said that although they stood second on the MTV’s Taking Pole Position, to get featured in such a popular programme was a big deal.
“The best thing that happened to the band was getting invited for an interview and video shoot for MTV Roots by popular VJ Nikhil, who called us for the interview after seeing our performance,” he said
He further mentioned that Still Waters is the only band from the north-eastern region to get featured on MTV Roots.
Speaking on their Mumbai experience, Ananth said that this time it was a totally different experience for the band members, getting to meet many popular personalities in the industry and getting a taste of the tight schedule and professionalism, which will surely help the band in the coming days.
