GANGTOK, 03 Nov: Bahais of Sikkim are preparing to attend the Silver jublee celebration of Bahai temple (popularly known as Lotus Temple) situated at New Delhi with full of enthusiasm and zeal.
Bahai Temple of New Delhi was established in the year 1986. Architecture, Faribuj Sabha designed the Bahai Temple of India in the shape of Lotus. There are around eight Bahai Temples in the world namely in New Delhi, India, in Frankfort Germany, in Kampala Uganda, in Sydney Australia, in Panama Central America, in Samoa pacific, in Iskabad Russia and in Chili.
More than 150 Bahais from Sikkim will be going to attend the silver jubilee celebrations. The program will be held on 12th and 13th November 2011 at the Temple premises. Thousands of Bahais from all over India and abroad are expected to witness the celebration.
The silver jubilee celebration committee has directed all the representatives of the states to come along with their regional traditional and cultural program to perform there in order to demonstrate unity in diversity. Bahais of Sikkim have been practicing Sikkims traditional Lepcha, Bhutia and Nepali Maruni Dance in Bahai School, Tadong. Principal Mrs. Rupa Devi Sharma is supporting and monitoring the needs of the Dancing group. Participants are from Gangtok, Saramsa, Pendam and Sumbuk.[from SANJAY AGARWAL]
