CM felicitates 4 in Dzongu for their contribution to earthquake relief

DZONGU REASSURED OF FULL SUPPORT IN REBUILDING EXERCISE
MANGAN, 30 Oct: The Chief Minister inaugurated a Block Administrative Centre at Passingdang in Upper Dzongu during his fifth day tour to North Sikkim.
After the inauguration, the Chief Minister felicitated four people from Sakyong-Pentong GPU in recognition of their contribution towards earthquake relief due to which this GPU in Upper Dzongu extensive loss to life and property. The four are Sonam Lepcha, relief coordinator Dzongu, Toknam Lepcha, Zilla member Sakyong-Pentong GPU, Namdup Lepcha, Ex Zilla member and Nima Lepcha, ward panchayat Bey Ward.
A public meeting was held here at BAC complex for Lingthem-Lingdem and Saffo-Passingdang GPUs. A welcome speech was being delivered by Secretary RM&DD, AK Ghaneriwala.
In his speech, the area MLA cum Power Minister, Sonam Gyatso Lepcha informed that the government has brought the Government to the doorstep of the people by decentralizing power and conveyed the gratitude of the people towards the CM.
The Chief Minister also announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 1 lakh each for the two people from Lingdem who lost their lives to the tremor of 29 October. The people and the panchayat of the area also submitted a demand petition to the CM.
The Chief Minister, while addressing the gathering here at BAC Passingdang, said that all the demands relating to the damages caused by the earthquake will be sanctioned and also informed that other demands will be fulfilled phase wise.
While recognizing that the loss has been substantial, he assured full efforts of the State Government towards the rebuilding exercise.
He also announced the construction of a Munsolong statue at Lingthem and protection of the Namprikdang ground.
On the complaints made by the people regarding the delay in up gradation of Bey-Sangkalang road, the Chief Minister directed the Secretaries of RMDD and PWD for the restoration and up gradation as soon as possible.
He also appealed all the people to monitor the construction of school buildings to ensure the best safety for their children. He further informed that the people need not go to Mangan or Gangtok for the purpose of officials work as all the work will be done in BAC itself.
In the second session, a meeting was held at Tingvong Secondary School for Tingvong and Sakyong Pentong GPUs where the panchayat president Ongda Lepcha highlighted the various demands requested by the people to the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister announced full assistance to the rehabilitation and resettlement of Bey village. The 14 houses from 4th Mile Mantam have also been announced for relocation to safer location.
The Chief Minister also released Rs. 1 lakh to the students of livelihood school for an excursion tour. Apart from it, he also announced the sanctioned of the demands made by the people such as dairy farming, poultry, construction of school building etc.
