Toned down Chhat Puja this season

GANGTOK, 01 Nov: People from in and around Gangtok gathered here at Thakurbari premises to offer prayers on the occasion of Chhatt Puja today.
The prayers were offered between 11 AM to 7 PM with prayers to be offered again from 3 AM to 7 AM following morning.
President of Chhatt Puja Committee, Gangtok, Kushal Kashyap, mentioned that the committee has been organizing the Chhatt Puja every year in a grand way but this year the puja has been organized in a much simpler way.
“This year, the Chhatt Puja has been organized in a simple way as many people of Sikkim have been going through a difficult time, so only prayers were offered and there were no fire-works and no musical programmes were organized,” he said.

  1. Hey,

What's with the quality of SikkimNow paper these days? No, I’m not referring to the standard of news articles nor the editing work, but really the physical quality of the paper. Has NOW been hit by the government’s austerity measures or is it the result of necessary trade off between quality and recycled paper?
