Discussion begins on different aspects of Buddhism

Sakya Trizin reminds Buddhists of responsibilities towards environmental conservation

“For the sake of future generations, nature should not be destroyed in the name of development. Solutions for climate change lie in forest protection and every human being is responsible for the protection of wildlife and combating the impact of climate change,” said Sakya Trizin Rinpoche to students of various colleges of Gangtok today while inaugurating a two-day seminar on ‘Different Aspects of Buddhism’ here at the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology. The seminar is being jointly organised by Namgyal Institute of Tibetology and the Dolma Phodrang Foundation, New Delhi.
Sakya Trizin Rinpoche said that Buddhism teaches the value of saving lives which is the core teaching of Lord Buddha and the Mahayana sect is following the very principle and teachings of Buddha.

Sakya Trizin Rinpoche arrives in Gangtok

Sakya Trizin Rinpoche, the Supreme Head of Mahayana Buddhism, arrived at Sa-Ngor Chotshog Centre [Ngor Gompa], Gangtok from Kalimpong on Sunday. He was received at Rangpo by officials and representatives from various monasteries and associations.
Today the Rinpoche called on Governor of Sikkim, Shriniwas Patil at Raj Bhavan. His Holiness was accompanied by Gyalyum Chenmo, Dungsay Rinpoche, Director Namgyal Institute of Tibetology and officials of Ecclesiastical Department on the occasion.

Thousands receive Wang from Sakya Trizin

Thousands of devotees from across and outside the state gathered here at the Ngor Monastery premises on Wednesday to receive Wang from the supreme head of the Sakya sect of Tibetan Buddhism, Sakya Trizin. Sakya Trizin has also given his teachings on the occasion.
There were also people from other countries come to receive the Wang from the spiritual leader. The Speaker Sikkim Legislative Assembly, KT Gyaltsen, Power Minister, SG Lepcha, and Gangtok MLA, Dorjee Namgyal, were also present among others to receive the Wang.

Series of wangs by senior Rinpoches at Ngor Gonpa

SIBLAC seeks Sakya Trizin’s intervention on the Rathong Chu hydel projects

GANGTOK, 21 Oct: The Sikkim Bhutia Lepcha Apex Committee (SIBLAC) has called on the Sakya Trizin to “convince the State government to scrap all the three proposed anti-Buddhist Power Projects on the Rathongchu river”. This, the organization resolved to do at a meeting held today, informs a SIBLAC release.

GANGTOK, 19 Oct: The golden jubilee celebration of the Sa-Ngor Chotshog Centre [SNCC] here was held with prayers and blessings at the SNCC complex today with the Chief Minister, Pawan Chamling, present as the chief guest. The supreme head of the Sakya sect of Tibetan Buddhism, Sakya Trizin, is also in Sikkim to lead the celebrations. The centre was opened in 1961.

Sakya Trizin meets CM, discusses holding of Jensek prayers

GANGTOK, 11 Oct: The Supreme Head of the Sakyapa order of Tibetan Buddhism, Sakya Trizin, made a courtesy call on Chief Minister Pawan Chamling at his official residence, Mintokgang, here yesterday. Sakya Trizin was accompanied by Gyalyum Chenmo and Thartse Khen Rinpoche, the current throne holder of the Ngorpa sect of the Sakyapa tradition, informs a press communiqué received from the Sa-Ngor Chotshog Centre.
