Security guard charged with scrap theft

GANGTOK, 04 July: Pakyong Police have arrested a security guard on charges of stealing car batteries and iron scrap from a Maruti Alto on Thursday. According to the police, Devi Das Sharma worked as a security guard at the Pakyong Airport construction site and had made away with two vehicle batteries and one bag of iron scrap from an Alto parked at the construction site. Acting upon information from sources, the police apprehended the accused at Pakyong market area and recovered the stolen goods from his possession. The vehicle involved has also been seized and the case is under investigation.
