GANGTOK, 11 Jan: On the auspicious occasion of Maghe Sankranti [which falls on Monday, 14 Jan], Governor Balmiki Prasad Singh has extended warm greetings to the people of Sikkim.
The Governor’s message reads, “Maghe Sankranti, heralds the reawakening of hope and progress. I sincerely hope and pray that the festival brings a new and brighter phase in the lives of the people of Sikkim and ushers in good health and prosperity to all.”

GANGTOK, 02 Jan [IPR]: The Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and Smt Tika Maya Chamling have extended their warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Sikkim on the occasion of New Year 2013 and Barahimizong.

GANGTOK, 27 Dec: On the occasion of Teyongsi Sirijunga Sawan Tongnam, the Governor of Sikkim extends his warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Sikkim as per a press release from the PRO to the Governor.
The Governor’s message reads, “My greetings to the people of Sikkim and the Sikkimese Limboo community in particular on the auspicious occasion of Teyongsi Sirijunga Sawan Tongnam.
On this joyous occasion let us all rededicate ourselves towards strengthening the bonds of peace, unity, brotherhood and love amongst all sentient beings.”
The Governor has also extended his warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Sikkim on the occasion of the New Year.
He has said, “On the joyous occasion of advent of the New Year 2013, I extend my heartiest greetings and good wishes to the people of Sikkim. Let the New Year bring happiness, prosperity, peace and brotherhood among different communities of people.”

Saga Dawa greetings from CM and Governor

GANGTOK, 03 June [IPR]: On the auspicious occasion of Saga Dawa, which falls on 04 June, the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and Mrs Tika Maya Chamling have expressed their warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Sikkim.
In his message, the Chief Minister said that this day marked the three important events in the life of Lord Buddha. On this day, the Buddha was born, enlightened and attained nirvana or moksha. The Chief Minister in his message has asked the people to follow the path shown by Lord Buddha to achieve harmony and brotherhood among all sentient beings.
Governor Balmiki Prasad Singh has extended his warm greetings to the people of Sikkim on the occasion of Saga Dawa.
In his message, the Governor says, “Saga Dawa is a landmark event in the life of Gautama Buddha and is the most sacred among the Buddhist festivals. On this holy occasion, let us all remember with reverence the teachings of the Buddha. He taught us to practice non-violence and Karuna in our lives. He wanted us to develop a spirit of rational self-enquiry. To him adoption of the middle path was essential to achieve harmony and brotherhood among all sentient beings. In this way of life, there are no divisions based on caste, creed, gender, and nationality.
On this day, I call upon all my fellow Sikkimese brothers and sisters to strive on the path of truth and righteousness, as preached by the Sakyamuni.”

Governor and CM extend Losar wishes

GANGTOK, 21 Feb: On the auspicious occasion of Losar, the Governor of Sikkim, Balmiki Prasad Singh extends his warm greetings to the people of Sikkim, informs a press release issued by the PRO to the Governor.
The Governor said, “Losar, which is celebrated as Tibetan New Year, is an occasion for renewal of hopes and replenishment of one’s good deeds. It is also the time to reflect on the year that has passed and seek to learn lessons from it.
