Rickshaw rides at Dev Area’s Red Panda Fest

GANGTOK, 13 Jan: The 'Red Panda Fest 2015' [from 10 to 25 Jan] organised by Sikkim Royal Sports Academy, Development Area, is underway at TNSS School here. The fest is a curtain raiser for TNSS School’s Golden Jubilee celebrations to be held this year. Highlights of the fest are the two cycle rickshaws brought by the organizers for the fest which offer people fun rides from Sangram Hall up to TNSS School for Rs 50. It is informed that the funds collected from the festival will be used for the maintenance of the TNSS school ground. [pics courtesy JOSEPH LEPCHA]

TNSSS celebrates Annual Day

Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School celebrated its Annual Day 2014 on Friday. T'Nites Alumni Association president, Thukchuk Lachungpa, was present as chief guest accompanied by principals of other schools of the capital.
Cultural programme presented by the students, grand school idol finale, release of school magazine, prize distribution ceremony were among the highlights of the day's programme. Kumar Biswakarma was adjudged the winner of the school idol contest.
Principal KB Chettri presented the school annual report highlighting the achievements of the school in the field of academics, sports and others, during the academic session 2014.

He applauded the school for retaining the prestigious best school trophy (AISSCE Result). "Our students topped the state among the government schools securing 1st and 2nd position in the Science stream and 2nd position in the Commerce stream. In AISSE -2014, all students passed with good grades.

T’Nites donate blood

GANGTOK, 14 Aug: Around 100 students of Sir Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School including some teachers donated blood in the voluntary blood donation camp organized by NSS Cell of the school in coordination with the STNM Hospital Blood Bank today.
While expressing his happiness on the enthusiastic participation by students, TNSSS Principal KB Chettri mentioned that the blood collected will be used during any emergency and requirement at the hospital. This blood donation camp was organized for the first time in the school.
Mr Chettri further said that the school wants to encourage students towards blood donation and to inculcate social responsibility amongst the students through such camps. He added that the school also wants to be a role model for NGOs and organizations in terms of blood donation.

Kids to soar this weekend TWO-DAY INTERSCHOOL COMPETITION ‘UDAAN’ ON 21-22 SEPTEMBER

GANGTOK, 20 Sept: The Inner Wheel Club & the Rotary Club of Gangtok are organizing a two-day interschool competition ‘Udaan’ at Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School here on 21 and 22 September.
A press release informs that Udaan, pegged as “the flight of creativity”, is envisaged to bring out the creative and literary best in the younger generation. The aim is to promote a healthy spirit of competition amongst the youth and encourage them to be more aware of the world around them and to make them interested in seeking knowledge.
The event is being organized during this time well before exams so that students can spare time, the release mentions. September is also the “New Generation Month” as per Rotary’s International Calendar and “Literacy Month” as per Inner Wheel's International Calendar.
This year, around 600 students from various schools of Sikkim are expected to participate in the event. Students will be divided into 3 groups and four different competitions will be held in each category. Junior group will compete in Quiz, Spell Bee, Word Grid and Elocution; Middles group will compete in Painting, Quiz, Spell Bee and Group Song; Seniors will take part in Painting, Quiz, Antakshari, and extempore speech.
To keep the momentum going, each category has one fun event too. There will be a surprise quiz for the grownups on both days of the event, the release adds.

T’Nites felicitate teachers and senior alumni

GANGTOK, 06 Sept: Teachers of Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School were felicitated for their contributions to the school during the Teacher’s Day Celebration organized by the T’nites Alumni Association [TAA] here at TNSSS auditorium today.
On the occasion, TAA presented the ‘Teacher of the Year Award’ to Gayatri Pradhan and felicitated a retired teacher of the school, Nirmala Targain, for their contributions to the school.
The programme has the UD&HD Minister, DB Thapa, an alumni himself as the chief guest, accompanied by Gangtok MLA, Dorjee Namgyal, as the guest of honour.
