Sikkim Milk continues its profitable ways

After 28 years of losses, Sikkim Milk posts eight straight years of profits!

In these times of depressed economies and failing public sector undertakings, Sikkim Milk Union continues to impress. A loss-making unit for the first 28 years of its existence till the year 2006-07, Sikkim Milk has now posted profits for eight consecutive years! At the 19th Annual General Body Meeting of the Sikkim Cooperative Milk Producers Union Ltd held yesterday, it was announced that the turnover of Sikkim Milk Union has grown from Rs. 3,733 lakhs in the year 2013-14 to Rs. 4,417 lakhs in the year 2014-15, an 18.32 % growth. The profit before depreciation was Rs. 65.23 lakhs. The depreciation claimed was 9.51 Lakhs and the tax payable is Rs. 16.91 Lakhs. The net profit after depreciation and tax stands at Rs. 38.82 lakhs which is 27.7% higher than the previous year.

Christian Burial Ground Committee convenes AGM

GANGTOK, 08 Aug: The Annual General Meeting of the Christian Burial Ground Committee [CBGC] was held today here at Bethesda Church. The meeting was attended by Church Leaders, Reverends, Pastors, Elders and Deacons from different churches.
A CBGC press release informs that the meeting discussed various works and activities carried out by the present committee from 2012 to 2014. The meeting started with the welcome address by Rev. Robin Chettri.
The CBGC secretary presented the report of the achievements and activities carried out at Bakthang and Chandmari Burial Grounds while treasurer Milan Rai presented the annual financial report for the year 2013-2014. The committee vice president, CP Dewan encouraged the committee members to continue with the good works, while the president Rev Joseph Tamang shared his experiences of working with the CBGC.
The release informs that during the meeting the executive body of the committee was dissolved and Rev Joseph Tamang was again elected as the president for the next term.
The meeting concluded with the presentation of vote of thanks by CBGC secretary and closing prayer by Father Franklin Samson.

Karmapa Reception Committee AGM to be held at Phodong Gumpa on Sunday

MANGAN, 26 May: The head monk of Phodong Gumpa, Wongdi Lama, informed today that the Annual General Meeting of the North District Karmapa Reception Committee (KRC) is scheduled to be convened at Phodong Gumpa on 29 May. This will also mark the completion of one year since the North district’s KRC was formed and the Karmapa to Rumtek movement re-energised.
And KRC [North] general secretary, Karma Tshering Bhutia, adds that the extension of the working committee will also be taken up at the AGM.

STTA convenes 15th AGM, resolves to continue participation in national events

GANGTOK, 08 May: The 15th annual general meeting of the Sikkim Table Tennis Association [STTA] was convened today at the Paljor Stadium conference hall. The meeting was chaired by the STTA president, CK Basnet, and attended by executive members of the association.
The meeting discussed several agendas, passed various resolutions and also amended various rules of the association’s constitution.
At the meeting, expenses incurred in the last financial year in conducting various tournaments and sending teams to national and regional tournaments were placed and was passed by the executive members.
The association also endorsed the proposal to organise the 16th edition of the State Open Table Tennis championship in a grand manner shortly in a range of 18 events from cadets to veteran.
