Sikkimese enterprise constructs classrooms and shelter homes in earthquake ravaged villages

Yuksom Breweries Ltd., the promoters of which have had a long association with Nepal, further reinforced its relationship with the country by assisting the rebuilding process there. The Yuksom family has constructed 10 classrooms for Surya Primary School at Khani village, ward no 4, Riyale Village Development Committee, Kavre district and Chapakharka Primary School, Triveni-Chapakharka, ward no 6, Bishankhu Narayan VDC, Lalitpur district, a press communiqué from Yuksom Breweries informs.
An additional 52 shelter homes have been built in the village of Dungkharkh, Kavre Palanchok.

GANGTOK, 02 Jan: With pressure on the State government to ensure transparency over the accounts and management of funds allotted for earthquake reconstruction, and even demands for a White Paper on the same [already announced by the State Government], the Controller of Accounts, Finance Department, has been given the charge of a Committee constituted for this purpose. Significantly, only after clearance issued by this Committee will departments be released payments for any reconstruction work undertaken by them. Utilization Certificates for funds utilized are to be issued immediately by the committee and there is to be regular monitoring of progress made.

RMDD seeks Rs. 445.51 cr to rebuild 7,971 houses destroyed by 18 Sept Quake

GANGTOK, 17 Dec:  The Rural Management & Development Department [RMDD] is seeking a total of Rs. 445.51 crore to rebuild the 7,971 houses fully damaged by the 18 Sept Earthquake across the State. This demand forms part of the earthquake assistance of Rs. 7,400 crore sought by the State Government from the Centre.

Approaching ADB and World Bank is in Sikkim’s interest - CM
