GANGTOK, 25 Oct: A trekking cum cycling expedition by army personnel was flagged off today on a 66 km march along Ratey Chu on the Tamzey–Kabi–Penangla–Kyangnosala–Thegu axis.
An Indian army press release informs that the expedition, involving ten army personnel, has been organized under the aegis of the Black Cat Division and was flagged off by Brig SK Sengar.
The aim of the expedition is to make residents of East Sikkim aware about the work undertaken by Army in sectors such as environment conservation as well as explaining the flora and fauna of Sikkim. The medical team of the expedition will be providing medical aid in the remote area of Ratey Chu, the releaseadds.
All members of the expedition team and Brig Sengar planted a tree at Tamzey before setting out on the expedition.
