GANGTOK, 29 Oct: A meeting of All Sikkim Government Drivers’ Association [ASGDA] was held on 27 October here at Mannan Kendra, which was chaired by the president of the association, Chakra Bahadur Rai. The meeting was attended by Chandra Prasad Chettri as the chief guest, executive members and members of the association and senior drivers.
A press release issued by the general secretary, Karma Tshering Bhutia informs that during the meeting general secretary, Sangay Zangpo Bhutia presented the financial report from 2011 to 2013 of the association along with report on various activities and social works done by the association during this period.
Speaking on the various demands of the association, the president, Mr Rai informed that many of its demands were already fulfilled by the government and some were still pending. Further adding that the association will remind the government of the pending demands from time to time, he expressed his gratitude to the government for listening to the grievances of the drivers working under different government departments.
He also expressed hope that the government would soon fulfill the remaining demands.
The press release informs that after a thorough discussion on various grievances and problems, the association has decided to present a demand letter to the government.
On the occasion, the association felicitated its chief advisor, Thinlay Bhutia for his contributions in the past two decades. The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks by general secretary, Karma Tshering Bhutia.
