Training on broom binding held in West Sikkim

GANGTOK, 31 Oct: A series of training on broom binding was conducted for the villages of West Sikkim which fall under the Micro watershed of Integrated Watershed Management Program project implemented by State Level Nodal Agency, Forest Environment & Wildlife Management Department.
The names of the micro watershed that falls under the IWMP- I West Sikkim are Munsabhung- Ramgaythang MWS, Thingling MWS, Rimbik MWS, SindrangSingpheng MWS and Upper Chumbung MWS.
A press release informs that a total of 180 beneficiaries from all the four districts participated in the training. The series of training, which had started from 21 October 2013, conducted under Capacity Building Programme of Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP), West District concluded today.
One-day awareness programs were also conducted in the five micro watersheds in which total of 152 villagers participated. The training was conducted in the presence of TsheringPintso[DFO-cum-PIA], Watershed Secretary, Watershed President, Committee, Panchayat, and SLNA experts.
The resource person for the training on broom binding was KB Thapafrom Samdong andExperts of SLNA for the Awareness Program.
Participants were made aware of the project, its importance and its implementation.The villagers also thanked the department for thetraining on broom binding, the release adds.
