SFA founder president appointed FCAS advisor

GANGTOK, 26 Oct: Football Club Association of Sikkim [FCAS] has formally appointed the founder president of Sikkim Football Association, former Chief Secretary PK Pradhan as its Advisor. This was announced by the board members of the FCAS during a press conference on Saturday.
Speaking on the issues and agendas of the recently formed FCAS, Bhaichung Bhutia informed that soon after its formation earlier this year the association had a meeting with the Sikkim Football Association and placed its demands and issues. The association has demanded that the SFA induct 2 members from each football club with voting rights. Football clubs who have been in the Sikkim-League for more than 5 years should be eligible for this as earlier the SFA body used to have 2 members from each football club with voting rights, he stated.
Bhaichung mentioned that the SFA should provide at least Rs 5000 to the teams in the state league to meet the expenses of the clubs. On the same, he added that if the SFA can manage funds for the Governor’s Gold Cup then it should also put in efforts for the state league which is the main platform for local players to gain exposure and make football their career.
He further added that the SFA should organize coaching camp of at least 2 weeks duration after the selection of the team for the Santosh Trophy and other national tournaments to prepare a good state team. “These national tournaments are very important for local players to get picked up by good clubs”, he expressed.
Bhaichung also stated that an office space at the Football House should be provided which all football clubs in the state can use and that SFA should appoint a full time coach to spot local talent and to prepare good state players.
Mr Pradhan congratulated the association and encouraged them to continue with their efforts. Likewise, on the demands of the Association, he stated that all these demands are genuine and reasonable and it should be addressed soon by the SFA. He also assured to provide all possible help to the association.
Other board members of FCAS, Phurba Sherpa and Paul Sangderpa also addressed the conference.
