GANGTOK, 27 Oct: Anushuchit Jati Kalyan Sangh, Sikkim, a registered Association working for the Scheduled Castes of Sikkim, has expressed shock over the omission of the Majhi community from the SC list.
In a press release, AJKS chief convenor, Binay Gazmer has stated that the Sangh has been strongly advocating against the decline in the growth rate of Scheduled Castes population in the past decade. In this respect, the omission of 506 members [as per State Socio Economic Census 2006] of the Majhi community from the SC list “may not bring social, educational, economical and political development to Scheduled Castes people residing in Sikkim”, he states.
“Anushuchit Jati Kalyan Sangh, Sikkim wishes holistic development of the members of the Majhi community of the state”, he adds.
