GANGTOK, 30 Oct: Sikkim Krantikari Morcha has welcomed the inquiry report submitted by former DGP of Uttar Pradesh, IC Dwivedi, to the Supreme Court on the lathicharge incident on SKM office in February earlier this year.
Mr. Dwivedi was appointed by the Supreme Court to enquire into the lathicharge and the allegations leveled by Kala Rai and others in petition filed with against the incident.
“I am happy that the Truth has prevailed and the report clearly shows that the lathicharge by the Sikkim Police was not justified and that the conduct of the I.G.P. (Law & Order) was illegal and improper. We have full faith in the judiciary and we await further order from the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India,” a press release issued by Sonam Bhutia, general secretary (Legal Cell) of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha conveys.
