NAMCHI, 31 Oct: Starting from today, Namchi Girls’ Senior Secondary School (NGSSS) is organizing a two-day school fest ‘Spectrum 2013’ with the theme ‘If you have a dream… live it!.’ The school fest was formally inaugurated today by the area MLA, Binod Rai.
The programme today was also attended by BT Tamang [Chairman Namchi Municipal Council] and NH Ansari [Vice Chairman Namchi Municipal Council] as special guests along with distinguished guests SP South, SDPO Namchi, SDM Namchi, Officials from HRDD Namchi, principals from Namchi Government College and DIET College Namchi, and teachers of various schools from in and around Namchi, officials of various departments and invited guests along with participant students from guest schools.
The chief guest informed that the students of Namchi, South District would be provided with laptops after the Diwali holidays and that next year the government will provide laptops for students of class IX and X. The laptops provided by the state government need not be returned, he added.
Mr. Rai also congratulated the school principal and teachers for conducting such a programme which helps in the all round development of a student. Furthermore, he praised the talented students who presented their dance and songs, not only from the host school but also from other invited participant schools from in and around Namchi.
He informed about various schemes of the government which is underway for development in the education sector, and informed the host school NGSSS that necessary infrastructural development for NGSSS would be provided soon.
The inaugural programme today also included inter-school competitions, dance competitions in fusion form which was participated by various government and private schools of Namchi along with singing competition. An enthralling band performance was presented by Government Senior Secondary School and a fashion show on ethnic traditional wear was presented by NGSSS.
This was followed by the inauguration of gala fete by the chief guest and other invited guests. The gala fete will continue till Friday. The other attractions of the fest are raffle draw and performance by a guest band. The inter-school girls’ volleyball tournament was also conducted as part of the school fest, and the finals were held on Wednesday.
