GANGTOK, 28 Oct: The All Sikkim Computer Teachers’ Association [ASCTA] has stated that it has no link with the ongoing pen-down, chalk-down strike of the ad-hoc teachers.
“We are simply serving the students and have no other motive other than regularization of our services for which the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling has assured us and we have full faith in his words”, said Jeewan Dahal, a member of the association today.
He, on behalf of the association, thanked and conveyed gratitude towards the Chief Minister and the Department for distributing laptops to the students.
“It will be easier for the computer teachers now to disseminate the requisite knowledge to the students on Information and Technology since they have their own laptops now”, he said.
He further informed that ASCTA on 26 October formed its new body during a meeting held at Gangtok. Kelsang Sherpa was nominated as the president of the new committee with six executive members; Nagen Pradhan as vice president, KN Koirala as general secretary, Hiran Pradhan as joint secretary, Shanti Ram Sapkota as publicity secretary and Sabita Chettri as its treasurer. The association also constituted committees for all the four districts.
The objective of forming the association is to work for regularization of their service as per the assurance of the Chief Minister given during his 42-day state-wide tour. The association also informed that the Chief Minister had assured them in writing to regularize their services.
It may be mentioned here that a total of 133 computer teachers are serving in different schools of the state under Human Resource Development Department [HRDD] in different schools since 2012. Earlier, they were appointed and worked under Computel Systems and Services [CSS].
