IT Secretary visits Melli Dara, the Cyber Village in the making

GANGTOK, 22 Oct: Secretary, Information Technology Department, Rajesh Verma visited Melli Dara Paiyong GPU on Monday regarding the recently launched Cyber Village Project in the GPU. Mr Verma visited different offices located within the GPU and suggested to make the best use of the application provided to them and update the citizen’s data on real time basis.
He also visited two secondary schools and briefed students about Internet Security. An awareness programme about Internet Security will also be held in these schools next week. He also suggested that basic computer training be conducted for all the citizens of the GPU through CSC.
A meeting with the Panchayats and office staff was also held at Rajiv Gandhi Sewa Kendra, Melli Dara where detailed discussion on different issues and suggestions pertaining to Cyber Village and other IT related matters was held.
Since the government wants to make every village of Sikkim a Cyber Village where people can get the maximum benefits using modern day Information & Communication Technology, the Department of Information Technology along with the Gram Panchayat have put in their best effort to make it a success.
