NAMCHI, 24 Oct [IPR]: Secretary LR&DM Department, KS Tobgay along with Principal Chief Engineer cum Secretary Roads & Bridges Department, TB Rajalim and Additional Chief Engineer Roads & Bridges, Ranjan K Pariyaar were here in the South District today for an inspection tour of roads under Prime Minister’s Relief Fund [PMRF] and National Disaster Relief Fund [NDRF] schemes.
Mr Tobgay informed that this inspection is being carried out mainly to assess the progress status of the projects under PMRF and NDRF central schemes in the areas of South District where they have been implemented. He further updated that these schemes were sanctioned in the financial year 2011-12 and are of 3 years duration and so for a midterm review, the team had come to the district to physically verify the works. He said that the District Collector and the SDM in the districts have been directed to look after the progress report of these schemes. Mr Tobgay also added that during this tour, inspection of ICDS Centers and restoration works of government schools will be carried out as well.
“We found the works in the inspected areas to be satisfactory”, remarked PCE cum Secretary, TB Rajalim. He further notified that directions have also been received from the Planning Commission of India to direct the line departments to physically oversee the works so as to complete all the repair/restoration works quickly within the scheduled period.
The engineering team from Roads and Bridges comprised of SE (Namchi) R&B, Mohan Gurung, DE R&B, Bildat Rai. AEs R&B, Sanjeev Rajalim (Namchi circle), Santosh Rai (Jorethang Circle) and Susan Rai, JE R&B (Namchi circle). Also present during the inspection tour were SDM Namchi, Ravindra Kumar and SDM Jorethang, TD Denzongpa. Areas covered in South district today are Manpur-Sumbuk-Rong-Namchi and from Namchi-Nangdang-Mamley-Assangthang via Dhargaon to Possong to CCCT till Jorethang.
The team will proceed towards West District in the evening for the same inspection tour on 25 October.
