GANGTOK, 21 Oct: A central working committee meeting of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha today resolved to demand the resignation of the two MP’s from Sikkim for what the party sees as their failure to protect the Old Laws of Sikkim in light of the passage of the Companies Act 2013 and the feared repeal of Registration of Companies [Sikkim] Act of 1961.
The SKM CWC meet was chaired by the party’s working president Bharati Sharma and also attended by former MLA PS Golay, a press release informs.
The meeting also condemned what the party has branded a “false statement” by the Lok Sabha MP PD Rai [published in local newspapers] stating that Sikkim’s Companies Act has not yet been repealed [see NOW! issue dated 21 Oct 2013].
The release argues that the Central Government Gazette Notification on the Companies Act issued on 30 August includes a clear mention that the Registration of Companies (Sikkim) Act, 1961 will stand repealed.
