MANGAN, 25 Oct: Two porters employed with the Indian Army were killed in an accident that occurred on Thursday near Rangma Range, 4 kms from Chungthang towards Lachen, when an Army Gypsy carrying porters fell off the road.
Out of 9 people on board the vehicle, 8 were army porters. Two porters died on the spot while three others with grievous injuries were taken to Siliguri after rescue. The driver and three other porters sustained minor injuries and were taken to Mangan district hospital. They were referred to the Army hospital, Gangtok today.
The two dead bodies have been brought to Mangan District Hospital for post mortem while the family members of the deceased are yet to arrive at Mangan from Siliguri.
