Sikkimese freelancer wins IndiaAfrica Photography Contest 2014

GANGTOK, 23 June: 24-year-old freelance photographer, Kunga Tashi Lepcha of Sikkim has won the IndiaAfrica Photography Contest 2014. He is one of the 10 winners from India alongside 10 winners from Africa.
His photo of a “video hall” screening a Salman Khan film won him the contest. The results of the photography contest were declared on IndiaAfrica’s Facebook page today.
Kunga’s experiments with photography began 2 years ago, which later translated into his interest in documenting cultures and telling stories. Travelling and photography are his stress busters. Besides photography, Kunga is also learning and working as a cinematographer in Echostream, a multi-design company in Gangtok.
‘INDIAFRICA: A Shared Future’, as per the organisation’s website, is a unique people to people initiative that aims at engaging multiple stakeholders in India and Africa through contests, fellowships, discussions, events, collaborative projects and cultural exchanges.
