GANGTOK, 25 June: A section of beneficiaries of Green House scheme
from Kadamtam under Namcheybong constituency in East Sikkim has alleged that
even after the meeting all required criteria they have not received any payment
from the concerned department so far.
Addressing a press conference here today, they alleged that out
of 26 beneficiaries in Kadamtam, 18 have already received payments of Rs 10,000
each but the payment for the remaining 8 beneficiaries remains denied without
any reason.
Durga Prasad Mangar, Laxman Mangar, Mani Kumar Mangar,
Sukraj Mangar, Binod Mangar, Subash Mangar, Prakash Mangar and Amrit Mangar
have not received their due payments, they detail.
They informed that being unemployed youth from Kadamtam,
they had submitted applications for green houses for Gerbera cultivation with the
Horticulture Department in the area. It is added that 26 beneficiaries from the
area were selected for the same.
“After completion of the works, out of 26 beneficiaries 18 received payment of Rs 10,000 each from
the Horticulture Department on 21 May but the remaining 8 remained denied,”
they alleged.
They alleged that area MLA and some Horticulture Department
officials were behind this denial. They further allege that even as they remain
ignored, some beneficiaries who have not fulfilled the criteria have received
the payment already.
Regarding the same, Laxman Mangar has also filed an RTI query
with the Horticulture Department today seeking details on the list of
beneficiaries and other details of the supply of Green House under Namcheybong
constituency.
They also asked the area MLA to explain the reason on
stopping the payment and urged the concerned Minister to step in and resolve the
matter.
