GANGTOK, 23 June: Sikkim Krantikari Morcha has alleged that the Sikkim Democratic Front government was not working towards fulfilling promises made to the people during the elections.
An SKM press release demands that the government immediately pay its employees the Dearness Allowance with interest w.e.f January 2014. It is mentioned that the central government employees have been enjoying this DA since January this year.
The release further accuses the SDF government of cheating MR and WC employees by putting their regularisation process on hold despite having promised regularisation to them before elections. The party has demanded that these employees be regularized immediately.
SKM has also questioned the CM’s position on his promise to give tribal status to left out communities recommended by the Roy Burman Commission. The party has further demanded that state government employees be given the 12.5% North-East allowance that central government employees are enjoying.
On the issue of transfers, the party has said that no transfers should be effected without the adoption of a Transfer Policy first. The opposition should be consulted before passing such a policy, the release adds.
