GANGTOK, 26 June: Nimtar Junior High School under GVK, Pakyong [East Sikkim] today convened its second SMC-PTA meeting in order to make the people aware about the Continuous Comprehensive Assessment [CCA] Module and Right of Children to free and Compulsory Education Act [RTE] 2009.
The meeting was chaired by the Assistant Education Officer, HRDD, Pakyong, DM Subba. The Head Master of the School, Bhanu Chettri while welcoming the gathering spoke on the merits of the CCA. He also apprised the SMC as well as all the parents about the utilization of SSA grants and the academic progress of the students so far this year. Further, he urged the parents to pay attention to their children’s studies even during short holidays and long vacations, informs a press release.
Similarly, Mr. Subba, highlighted about the provisions of RTE Act and deliberated on the change in responsibilities of parents these day. He also made the parents aware about the various schemes of the department implemented through the state for the betterment of our children.
Later, in the second session, a Health Awareness Program on Tuberculosis and other diseases was held. This special program was organized by the District Hospital, Singtam which was attended by the District Tuberculosis Officer, East, Dr. Kabita Khati, MOTC, Singtam District Hospital, Dr. DP Sharma along with his official team under RNTCP, the release mentions.
