NAMCHI, 26 June [IPR]: As part of the ongoing ‘Paryavaran Mahotsav, 2014’ a mass cleanliness drive was carried out today at Shopping Plaza by Government Girls Senior Secondary School, with the aim to make Namchi safe and clean. Present during the event were DFO (T) M K Rai, AFS (T) Deepshika Sharma, Namchi Municipal Councilor Tarkeshwar Prashad, Taxi Drivers Union, SDF youth alongwith teachers of the school with assistance from Fire and Police Department.
Tools for the cleanliness drive were provided by Urban Development & Housing Department; Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management Department; Namchi Municipal Corporation and Patanjali Yog Samiti. 100 students, 10 teachers, 20 members of the local taxi union and 20 SDF youth took part in today’s mass cleanliness drive.
Speaking on the cleanliness drive, DFO (T) said that the students of the school have enthusiastically and with high spirits celebrated the ‘Paryavaran Mahotsav, 2014’. He also informed that young students should come forward and join hands to save the environment and further congratulated the school for winning the Chief Minister’s Green School Rolling Trophy on the occasion of the State World Environment Day.
In addition ACF (T) informed that it was highly appreciated that the students and the faculty have come forward for the mass cleanliness drive and also taken positive initiative towards saving the environment.
Speaking on the occasion, PK Rai, one of the teachers from Government Girls Senior Secondary School said that the mass cleanliness drive aims to educate and inculcate responsibility among students and the general public to keep the surroundings green and litter free.
