Sikkim Commission for Backward Classes joins Paryavaran Mahotsav

GANGTOK, 27 June [IPR]: Sikkim Commission for Backward Classes, Government of Sikkim organized a massive plantation drive as part of the Paryavaran Mahotsav-2014 on 22 June at Assam Lingzey Sr. Sec. School premises, involving a large number of senior students, teachers and Heads of Assam Lingzey Sr. Sec. School, feeder Schools, public and NGOs.
Area MLA,. BB Rai attended the programme as the chief guest along with the Chairman, Sikkim Commission for Backward Classes, TN Sharma, Additional Secretary, SCBC, TB Chhetri and officials and staff of the Commission.
A large number of saplings of various ornamental plants and fruit bearing trees were planted in the School premises and also in the vacant land.
The plantation drive was also participated by the officials and staffs of HRDD, Forest, SDM Office, SNT (Mechanical division) under Pakyong Sub- Division.
One kilometer rally was conducted from the venue to sensitize people on keeping our environment green and clean.
