First set of 20 Mangzing slide victims to receive land finalized

ALLOTMENT ORDERS TO BE HANDED OVER BY CM ON TUESDAYGANGTOK, 21 Nov: The first phase of distribution of land to those displaced by the Mangzing landslide was carried out today at Niya-Mangzing Gram Prasharan Kendra.
In the first phase, land measuring  40ft x 80ft [3200 sq.ft.] at Tokdey Block, South Sikkim, acquired by the State Government for the displaced, was distributed to 20 beneficiaries by way of lucky draw [among the affected people] at Niya-Mangzing Gram Prasharan Kendra, informs a press release issued by SDM Ravangla, PK Rai. 
The 20 names were shortlisted for the first phase distribution of land in consultation with the concerned Panchayat and the Allotment Orders are scheduled to be handed over by the Chief Minister at the Annual Function of at Yangang Govt Senior Secondary School scheduled to be held on 22 Nov, the release informs.
The SDM, Ravangla directed the respective beneficiaries to occupy the site as per their Plot Numbers drawn by lottery and informed that the site will be shown by the concerned Revenue Surveyor as and when needed.
In the second phase, the names of the remaining beneficiaries will be sorted out after thorough verification and provided land at the proposed area in Tokdey in the same manner, the release adds.
BDO, Yangang, Mahesh Sharma, and Dy. Director, LR&DMD, Ravangla, C Bhutia along with the concerned Panchayats and affected victims were also present for the distribution programme.
