Korean ‘Little Angels’ perform in Delhi

GANGTOK, 18 Nov: To mark the 60th anniversary of the Korean War, The Little Angels, Korea’s cultural ambassadors of peace and goodwill, have been on a 16-nation tour since June 2010 to honor the countries which sent troops or medical units to Korea’s aid.
Korea’s cultural ambassadors will present a children’s folk ballet of Korea on 22 and 23 Nov as part of the centenary celebrations of the founding of Delhi as the capital of India.
A press release informs that a team of 20 members from Universal Peace Federation of Sikkim  led by their president, GM Gurung and director, Dendup Sherpa, are in Delhi for the programme along with Sikkim MPs PD Rai and OT Lepcha to attend the programme.
This year, the Little Angels are scheduled to tour 5 nations - Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Italy and India, countries which sent medical units to Korea during or in the immediate aftermath of the Korean War.
The troupe will give two performances at the Siri Fort Auditorium. On 22 November, they will perform for an audience of specially invited dignitaries led by Chief Minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit and on 23 November, for the school children and youth of Delhi, the release informs.
Indian Council for Cultural Relations [ICCR], the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Korean Cultural Foundation, Korean War 60th Anniversary Memorial Committee and Universal Peace Federation of India will facilitate the Little Angels tour of India. The Little Angels, Children Folk Ballet of Korea’s repertoire includes Flower Crown Dance, Spring Time, Fan Dance, Wedding Day, Drum Dance, Hourglass Drum Dance, Doll Dance, Folk singing with Kayakum, Mask Dance and Farm Dance.
