GANGTOK, 24 Nov [IPR]: A two-day training programme on ‘Storage and Preservation of Food Grains’ jointly organized by Central Warehousing Corporation, Government of India and Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, got underway here today, at the conference hall of SIRD Complex, Karfectar.
Secretary, Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Jemima Pradhan was present at the inaugural session as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Pradhan expressed her happiness to be a part of such a programme, which she informed, was being organized for the first time in the state.
She also urged the trainees to proactively take part in the training and also put into practice the knowledge which they receive during the training.
Mrs. Pradhan also requested the trainees to keep their respective food go-downs neat and clean, as well as see that the food grains are not wasted.
Resource persons from Central Warehousing Corporation, New Delhi, SC Gupta and Tarun Kumar Dey gave an assessment and documentation of technical records in go-downs, procedure of quality compliance, procedure of receipt and issue of stocks and their accounting at go-downs and quality assessment to the trainees during the inaugural session.
