Tatkal tickets in one day now

GANGTOK, 23 Nov [IPR]: Ministry of Railways, Government of India has introduced a new “Tatkal Scheme” which came into effect on 21 November. The Advance Reservation Period (ARP) of Tatkal Scheme has been reduced from 2 days to 1 day excluding the day of journey.
The new system will allow the booking of maximum 4 passengers in a Tatkal booking.
Tatkal tickets will now be issued only on production of prescribed proofs of identity. For this purpose, a self attested photocopy of the proof of identity of any 1 passenger should be attached to the requisition slip. The details of the identity proof will be indicated on the reserved tickets as well as on the reservation chart.
During the journey, the passenger, whose identity and number has been printed on the ticket, will have to carry the copy of the Identification.
It will not be mandatory for the passenger(s) to go to the counter to book the Tatkal ticket. However, the proof will have to be sent in the aforementioned manner.
No refund will be granted on cancellation of confirmed Tatkal tickets which are booked on or beyond 21.11.2011 except in case of contingency circumstances. Existing rule of providing 25% refund for confirmed tickets which are cancelled before 24 hours of train departure is applicable only for Tatkal tickets booked before 21.11.2011.
