GANGTOK, 23 Nov: The Food & Civil Supplies Department has implemented a scheme under which BPL families with more than six members will get an additional 15 kgs of rice on their ration card every month.
Accordingly, the department has advised all such ‘identified’ BPL families to collect 15 kgs of BPL rice in addition to the 35 kgs [they are already receiving] from their respective fair price shops w.e.f. September 2011.
A press release from the department informs that this development comes from the Chief Minister’s announcement to the effect made during his Sikkim Brahman.
It further mentions that the BPL beneficiaries can also contact their concerned Panchayat, Deputy Directors or DCSO of their respective districts for further information.
