Annual School Day and Children’s Day celebrated at Namrang JHS

GANGTOK, 18 Nov: Namrang Government Junior High School celebrated its annual School Day on 14 Nov, coinciding with the Children’s Day. The first session of the event had panchayat president, Tika Devi Dhakal as the chief guest, informs a press release.
Light sports like Bun Race, Book Balance, Sweet Picking, Balloon Bang were organized for the students of classes I and II. In the inter-house parade competition, Maenam (Yellow) House was adjudged the best contingent.
As part of the cultural programme, solo songs were performed by Hemant Kafley and Mon Kumari Sharma of class III and Manisha Luitel of class VI, the release informs. 
The second session had inter-house competitions in 100m and 200m Race, Relay, Discuss Throw and Shot-Put for both boys and girls. Singba (Red) House which was adjudged the best performer in Gardening was also declared the House of the Year 20011 with 12 gold medals to its credit. The inter-house quiz competition was won by Fambonglho House, briefs the release. 
The headmaster, Surjay Pradhan presented the Annual School Report and handed over its copies to AEO, HRDD, DP Chamlagai and BDO, Rakdong, Mr. Denzongpa.
The chief guest, Mr. Denzongpa spoke on the life of Pandit Nehru and his love for children, shared his own experiences as a kid and the education scenario then. He urged the students to work with diligence and continue to chase their goals. 
While, special guest Mr. Chamlagai, highlighted on the significance of the Children’s Day and also shed light on the various features of the RTE Act. He further informed about the scholarship provided by the government every year to class IV toppers.  
The welcome address and the vote of thanks were proposed by AK Chamlaigai and Kamal Dahal while the event was conducted by school teacher, AD Dangal, the release adds.
